Job's Daughter's Cupcake Decorating Challenge
On Sunday, Feb 19th @ 1 pm, our local Bethel of Job's Daughters will be holding a cupcake decorating challenge.

If you think you have decorating skills and want to flex those skills for a cash prize, this is your event.

Gather your team of 2-3 people, ages 12 - 18, and register to show off your cupcake decorating skills and win cash prizes. The cash prizes are for the top 3 teams whose entries are picked by the judges to be the best.

The start of winter Farmer's Markets, and just in time for Christmas
On Saturday, December 17th, there will be a Farmer's Market held at 218 West Washington St. From 10 until 2.

The Farmer's Market Board has responded to multiple requests from vendors and customers alike with plans to hold Farmer's Markets once a month through the off-season (October through May). The first being on the 17th of December, in hopes of making available vendor's product you may want to give as Christmas presents.

Conservation District Local Workgroup Meeting
Conservation Districts in Northwest Kansas are scheduling this meeting for a (5) County Area. Counties Involved in this process are: Sherman, Thomas, Cheyenne, Rawlins, and Decatur.

The purpose of this meeting is to gather information and make recommendations to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Conservationist, as well as other state and local leaders, related to addressing natural resource concerns identified at the local level.

David Padgett has been in Poland for 3 weeks with Task Force URE running humanitarian missions to support the Ukrainian refugees at the border.

Task Force URE is a group of US Military veterans that organized to prevent US Vets from getting caught up in joining mercenary groups going into Ukraine. They instead redirect motivated vets to work with them in assisting women

Task Force URE is a group of veterans working in the Ukraine, providing humanitarian support for people in need.
They bring in and distribute needed medical and food supplies.
Extract family members who are caught in the Ukraine and cannot get out on their own.

Winter Farmer's Market
On Saturday the 5th of March, from 10am til 1pm, there will be a Winter Farmer's Market at 108 W Washington St in Saint Francis.

The Farmer's Market Board has been working to round up vendors who want to participate and give you the opportunity to come and get those products and food you normally only see during the summer time. Senator Marshall to Hold Cheyenne County Town Hall

2020 and 2021 Alumni Reunions June 18-20,2021
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Alumni weekend will be a bit different from previous years. The 2020 Alumni Reunion was postponed until this year so both 2020 and 2021 honor year classes are encouraged to gather for a reunion. Honor Classes this year include all years ending 0, 1, 5, and 6 Since we are still not 100% clear of the pandemic there will be few large group events. Class members are encouraged to reach out to their classmates to schedule individual class gatherings.

Farmer's Market set to open June 5th
The Farmer’s Market will be held in the park again, as in previous years, Saturday Mornings from 9-12.

There will be hot breakfast available to purchase as well as baked goods, jams, parsnips, carrots, Swiss chard, radishes, fresh eggs, locally grown meat products, and handcrafted soaps and salves.

For convenience, any customer can also go to the website at https://cncofarmersmarket.com and pre-order their items.

Quincy Gallery’s First Art Auction
Quincy Gallery’s First Art Auction will run thru April 30th and end with a reception to announce the winners and meet the various artists. Silent auction bidding as well as online bidding are offered throughout the length of the show, again ending April 30th. The funds raised will benefit the 202 on Washington renovation project which includes the construction of a community event center, a professional kitchen and an expanded gallery space. Ten artists have donated 27 pieces for this event.

Last Kansas Sampler Festival Approaches

The 28th and final Kansas Sampler Festival will take place in Winfield's Island Park on May 6 and 7. The festival, designed to provide the public a sample of what there is to see, do, hear, taste, buy, and learn in Kansas, will end its successful run as the state's largest outdoor travel show.

Many gathered Monday night, April 17th, to receive the St Francis Community Foundation grant money awarded to their various groups and organizations, to honor Bill & Cindy Keller who have given so much to the St Francis Community, and to enjoy a delicious dinner at Riverside.

Flatiron Restaurant opens in St. Francis
On Hwy 36 in St Francis, I noticed a new OPEN sign fluttering in the wind in front of Jett Fromholtz's Flatiron Restaurant. The restaurant I had been in many times, doing small projects during the construction phase, and asking when the opening date would be, but as of yet hadn't gotten a definitive answer. So I was happy when I realized where that OPEN was, "Jett's open!", I had to go in and check it out.

'First Impressions' for St Francis, Results
Nadine Sigle with the K-State Research and Extension shared the results of the 'First Impressions' project for St Francis. A group from another town of similar size visited St Francis recently and recorded their first impression as did people from our town visited another. The intent was to see our communities with fresh eyes.
