If you weren't at Fresh Seven Coffee today then you missed out on some great information!
David Padgett has been in Poland for 3 weeks with Task Force URE running humanitarian missions to support the Ukrainian refugees at the border.
Task Force URE is a group of US Military veterans that organized to prevent US Vets from getting caught up in joining mercenary groups going into Ukraine. They instead redirect motivated vets to work with them in assisting women and children that have been displaced due to the Russian invasion.
Dave is the brother of Jason Padgett, and the son of Dianna Padgett & Charles and Kristine Tyler Padgett. Both brothers served in the military and are honored on the Veterans Monument in Roadside Park.
Dave knew his experience being a Medic in the Army would be valuable at the border and he felt compelled to go and help because he had the freedom and ability to donate his time. "So many people want to go over and help but they have reasons they can't leave. I could go, so I knew I had to" Dave said.
The group sees difficult things but there are positives also: "There is an entire abandoned mall where they are housing children who have lost both their Mom and Dads in the violence. We were asked to just go in there and play with the kids, spend some time with them and let them be kids, you know."
Dave came home to take a break because he said his three weeks over there felt like three years. He wanted to spend time with family and get in some R+R. He is looking forward to going back over soon.
While Dave is home he is raising money for the medical supplies his group needs to continue their efforts. You can send the money to him directly through Facebook, or you can visit the Task Force URE website and donate directly to the group.

Thank You Dave, for doing this for them. I think we all wish we could each do more.
