These competitive grants initiate or expand the efforts of farmers, gardeners, citizens, government officials, schools, and other stakeholders in urban areas and suburbs. Projects may target areas of food access; education; business and start-up costs for new farmers; and development of policies related to zoning and other needs of urban production.
This funding announcement will close 4/9/24. The funding floor is $75,000, the ceiling is $350,000, and most types of applicants, with the exception of individuals and for-profit businesses, are eligible to apply.
This grant opportunity is available for:
- City or township governments
- County governments
- Independent school districts
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
- Special district governments
