Community Builders,

The NWK KS Leadership Center team is scheduling three NW Kansas Leadership Skill-building Workshops at the end of March in Bird City, Colby and Goodland. These workshops will include introductory leadership skill-building concepts by KLC teachers and coaches. These workshops will also address the logistics of establishing leadership training programs, choosing curriculums and measures to sustain leadership training into the future.

The dates, times and location of these sessions are:
Tue., March 30, 8:30 to 11:30 AM, Goodland at Northwest Technical College (Lyons Room)
Tue., March 30, 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Bird City American Legion Hall
Wed., March 31, 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Colby Community College (Room 106)

Please spread the word regarding the opportunity to obtain leadership training in the future. I personally believe that the leadership classes held from 2007 to 2012 in Cheyenne County helped initiate growth and positive activity in Cheyenne County in the last 15 years. I hope you will join this new effort to re-establish leadership training in Cheyenne County and northwest KS!

Take this opportunity to learn new and improve your existing leadership skills. If you enjoyed the previous leadership classes, take advantage of these professional workshops in our backyard. Teachers and coaches are traveling from Wichita to lead these workshops.

New playground equipment at the Grade School
We as adults don't have the capability to truly judge the quality of a new, and visually impressive, piece of playground equipment. So, My Local Life recruited the help of two local experts in the fields of testing and evaluating the overall quality of 'fun stuff'.

Mahra and Mika take us through this new playground and let us know if the fun level was worth the effort, or if the school and the community just wasted their time and money.

Watch, and be informed.
Amendments to the Kansas amusement ride act which could affect carnival rides at the fair.
House Bill 2389 is scheduled to be heard, I think on Thursday and Friday in Topeka. This may or may not affect the carnival rides at the fair, but looks like it may. I would suggest people contact Representative Adam Smith and maybe e-mail any concerns, so this doesn't have a negative affect on the community.

Future Leadership Training Classes in Cheyenne County
There is a group of leaders in Cheyenne, Rawlins, Sherman and Thomas Counties that held discussions with K State Extension, Hansen Foundation and the Kansas Leadership Center regarding support for establishing sustainable leadership programs in these four counties. The first Community Builders class was held in Cheyenne County in 2007 and the last of four classes was held nine years ago in 2012. Close to 80 county residents participated in these classes. The original eight trainers have eithe
Classic Rose and The Rustic Garden, ribbon cutting ceremony
The Classic Rose and The Rustic Garden had it's official ribbon cutting ceremony this morning to celebrate a new owner and renovation. The members of the Cheyenne County Development Corp. were on hand to perform the ribbon cutting and highlight the addition of an important, new business in our community. Plus, they brought cake :)

Jan Fortin has created a wonderful new environment within the Classic Rose; taking down partitions, giving the entire space a face lift, opening up the space fo
